Smart Boards Part 2

Smart Boards are the coolest tools! Tonight, we got to see all sorts of different programs that a teacher could use on the Smart Board. Some, like the one I presented, did not work quite as well as they could have. However, there are a lot of possibilities for using this tool. The fact that students can interact with it is a big plus. Students can work in groups or as a class and create timelines, write out definitions, play online learning games - the possibilities are really endless. The only thing that I do not like about the board is writing on it. The pen does not keep up, slants the writing, or leaves imprints of your hand on the board. One of the main points about using the board that I came away with was that the usage of this tool would need to be taught to the class before you could really implement it into teaching. Also, I think that it needs to be integrated into a lesson versus just using a fancy presentation for entertainment purposes. On the other hand, the presentations that you can create really would keep your students awake and you can implement most of the multiple intelligences into your lessons on it. This tool will be fun to use if the school that I end up at is lucky enough to have them.
