Life as a teacher isn't easy. There always seems to be more to teach than you have time for in a day or a week or a month. This is where a new word comes into play - integration. I have discovered that the only way to try and cover every subject is to combine topics. Social Study lessons are now combined with reading and writing. Language Arts is a part of Science. The only topic that still seems to stand alone is math.
Why integration you may ask? The answer comes in two parts. The first is that is the only way you as a teacher have a prayer of covering all the topics. The second is that studies have shown that is how children learn best. I have to agree with the second point. Life does not come in compartments. So here's to integration!
